Is the Obamagasm ending?
Through the revelations of multiple sources, one might easily determine that the slobbering love affair is rapidly coming to an end, and Obama is now just a president. And sure, his approval rate may still be at 60% (for now) but if you cut through the obvious numbers you’ll see that he has lost significant ground with Independets since the end of January, and those are the people he needs most.
But, let’s examine some examples of the thrill being gone, shall we?
“but we’ve had muddled messages and the American public does not know. They feel they don’t know what’s going on, and their reaction then is to absolutely pull back”
– so, maybe Obama isn’t such a great communicator after all?
then, we have this piece from Howard Fineman, demeted and sad though it may be, it still smacks of the reality of Obama’s situation-
Fineman dance on the edge of credibility at several points, but perhaps on none as closely as he does this-
“Swimming in the middle, he’s denounced as a socialist by conservatives, criticized as a polite accommodationist by government-is-the-answer liberals, and increasingly, dismissed as being in over his head by technocrats.”
the only place Obama finds himself in the middle is on the middle ground between socialism and communism.
Here’s the deal gang. Everyday, those of us who pay attention (and it would seem that an increasing number of people do) read headlines about more companies and banks failing and jockeying for their place at the bailout trough. Perhaps, just perhaps, we’re not all as dumb as this administration thought we were- some of us can even walk AND chew gum at the same time. We understand where the government gets it’s money, and no, it ain’t from their paper route or working the graveyard shift weekends at the Exxon station to pick up a few extra bucks. No, we’re able, much to their chagrin, to put 2 & 2 together and actually come up with FOR, as in our tax dollars are being used FOR propping up these failing organizations that have been poorly run or have made bad decisions or investments. Hey, that’s the way the world works. You make a mistake, you pay for it. Why should our elected officials expect to be immune from this?
