First day of school

My son went back to school today.  I’m happy for him because I know he looks forward to it.  He started 7th grade today, and is in advanced classes in almost every subject.  He’s a smart kid and his mother and I are both very proud of him.

I noticed, when I got home and got on my computer (I’m working from home today, my wife and I like for somebody to be available on the first day of school in case anything is needed) that he had posted “bye Summer 2010” on his Facebook page.  For some reason, this made me extremely sad (I’m still sad thinking about it as I write this).  I know he had a good time this summer.  This was the first year he was home by himself (I took 5 Mondays off this summer and his mother tele-works on Fridays, so most of the summer he was only on his own 3 days a week, most of which was spent at the pool with his friends), and I know he enjoyed that even if he was a little bored at times.  This was also the summer after his first season of playing baseball, and he made the decision that he wanted to be a serious ballplayer.  So, he and I have been running, lifting, and practicing all summer.  He’s really transformed himself as an athlete, and with the fall baseball season starting in less then 2 weeks we’re thinking he’s going to have a chance to really dominate.

I guess what’s really bothering me is knowing that each summer that passes for him is one less that he has in his childhood.  For those of you that have kids that are grown, you know what I mean.  As great a time as he and I are having doing things that he’s now old enough to do (sports, concerts, etc…) I’d give anything to just have him be little for one more day, to be able to pick him up and put him on my shoulders or have him climb up on my lap on the couch- don’t get me wrong, he’d still be happy to do any of these things now…but he’d put me in traction if he did- (okay, writing that put a smile on my face and definitely helped).

So, knowing that we can’t turn back time, I’m just going to go forward and be happy for him.  He’s a big, strong, good looking kid.  He’s very popular and has a lot of friends.  If he keeps going the way he is now, life will turn out well for him, and his mother and I are determined to make that happen.  I just hope he understands and realizes just how much we love him, and how it’s our job as his parents to protect him and make sure he grows up to realize his full potential.

In repsonse to “all of the anti-Muslim rhetoric”…

A Liberal friend of mine in another forum used the phrase ‘anti-Muslim rhetoric’ in a post this morning.  I’ll respond here the same way I did there:

We are told again and again by ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’
that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting
wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.

The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the
‘silent majority,’ is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to
live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China ‘s huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery.  Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were ‘peace loving’?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our
powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don’t speak
up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

A question for my Liberal friends

…yeah, I have some, not all of them are insane, insufferable assholes…

For a significant part of last year, you guys told me how awesome the stimulus was and how I would come to appreciate it when the economy was roaring again.  Any chance you could be a little more specific and tell me exactly when I should expect that to happen?

Everything the stimulus was supposed to have done it failed to do.  Also, we keep hearing about how less then half of it has been spent.  To that, my question is simply…

…why?

Were we lied to?  Unemployment was not supposed to top 8%, yet it has been at 9.5% for a significant part of the year, was over 10% briefly last year, and we all know that the number is artificial as it doesn’t include underemployment nor does it include people who have given up looking for work.

Why is it then whenever economic indicators head south (home sales down, new unemployment claims up, consumer confidence down, etc…) it’s always “UNEXPECTED”?

…you’re kidding when you say that, right?  I mean, do you seriously expect people without jobs to buy homes or other big ticket items?  Perhaps they should act in a display of blind faith in the POTUS’ (Prevaricator Of The United States) claim that things are improving, despite what we see everyday.  Businesses are unsure which direction to move in and how they will be adversely effected through taxation and the cost of hiring new employees.   In short, NOTHING indicates any type of recovery.  Yet, every bit of negative news is “Unexpected” and “points to a slowed recovery”…THERE IS NO FUCKING RECOVERY!!!  QUIT LYING TO ME, I’VE HAD IT!!!

I’m sick to death of being treated like I’m stupid, have no common sense, and that my vision is deceiving me.  There are NO signs of any type of sustained recovery.  For the last 3 quarters, GDP numbers have been revised downward, with the only constant being government spending.  There is no meaningful private sector growth.  There is no incentive to spark private sector growth.

Until we rid ourselves of onerous, unaccountable government, things will not improve.  We’re circling the drain right now, on the verge of being flushed into a cesspool of mediocrity.  November 2nd is coming.  Get to the polls.  Make your voices heard.  Tell them not just “no”, but “HELL NO!”

The Wicked Bitch of the West wants to repeal the First Amendment?  Foolish us, we all thought the Libtards wanted to repeal the Second Amendment…

…but wait a minute now, she didn’t exactly SAY that she wanted to take away our freedom of speech.  No, she merely said she wanted to investigate the funding of those who oppose the GZ mosque… like there’s any difference.

Of all the kooks and Commies in Washington today, this “woman” is by far and away the most out-of-touch, unhinged, and dangerous.  Stop and think for a minute what “investigating the funding” of the opposition means for a minute.  Now, I’m not going to address the fact that the imam who wants to build this mosque said, on September 30 of 2001, that the US was “complicit” in the attacks, or that he has called for America to become sharia compliant and that he refuses to acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization.  No, I don’t care about that idiot…well, I do…but I don’t for the purposes of this piece.

As a quick civics lesson for you, let me remind you that this vile oxygen waster is 3rd in the line of succession to the presidency.  As SOTH, she literally holds as much power as the president, so this isn’t exactly like  some junior Congressman making a fool of themselves in an effort to gain some national exposure.  No, this is something that has the potential to actually happen.  The question you need to ask yourself is- to what end?

Last time I checked, poll numbers indicated that ~68% of people indicated that they STRONGLY opposed the building of the victory mosque (another lesson- throughout history,  Muslims have erected mosques on sites where they have defeated infidels).  Extrapolating that number based on the current US population would indicate some 200M people that oppose the building of this mosque.  Does the nasty Nazi propose to investigate every one of us?  Or, is she just referring to organized opposition…whatever that may mean.

Look gang, if you EVER needed a clear, concise, and direct reason as to why we have to THROW THESE BASTARDS OUT, this is it.  The next logical step in this progression is the application of pressure, in whatever form that may take.  To me, this is exactly the heavy-handed approach that is intended to make us fear our government.  That, my friends, is tyranny, and I personally would rather die on my feet then live on my knees.

…we know that you don’t understand the Tea Party movement.  After all, we didn’t understand your attempts to undermine national security during the Bush administration.  Seemed you would have been perfectly happy to have Islamic nutjobs kill us all as long as we weren’t profiling men of Middle Eastern descent in airports.

…we don’t understand how you can look at decades of failed social engineering policies and not see how completely incompetent the government is at running anything.

…we don’t understand how you seem to not get simple economics, and try to excuse away how periods of prosperity have always been tied to periods of low taxation.

…in short, we don’t understand YOU, nor your “mindset”, nor your hate for those of us who simply want to be able to keep more of our income, make our own decisions, and raise our families without some pencil-necked, unaccountable bureaucrat telling us how to do it…
